„Prayer and the works

of physical and spiritual mercy

lead the people to God.“

(Mother Alphonse Marie)

Our Associates also participate in the spirituality of Mother Alphonse Marie and in our mission.

We are sharing our charism with Lay-membership. (vgl. K 73)

Upon recommendation of the General Chapter SDR 1993 in Rome the Slovak Province has founded the Spiritual Family SDR (DR SDR).

Since the year 1997, after the Slovak Bishops' Conference has approved the Statutes for DR SDR and its activities in Slovakia, we enable the layperson - the women - to participate in our charism. The Spiritual Family of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer is an association of believers, which connects the laity with the sisters SDR.

A single person or a family member tries to live his personal vocation in the Church through prayer, shared spirituality and collaboration in the work of redemption in accordance with the charism of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer in the pastoral, educational, charitable and social activities in sense of the Social Doctrine of the Church.

The membership is achieved by enrolling into the member book. Thus each member wins simultaneously proportion in the merits and the prayers of the whole Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer. It is an recognized membership without vows.

As an apostolic community of the Sisters and as lay members, we are responsible for the proclamation of the Gospel and strive in our life, to realize the basic idea of our foundress, Reverend Mother Alphonse Marie, who tried to make visible the never-ending love of God, which was revealed in Jesus Christ the Redeemer of the world.

Each member of the DR SDR promises to integrate into the work of redemption and to be witness of God's love for the people in following manner:

a) to perform an exemplary Christian life;

b) to sacrifice prayer, suffering, working and difficulties of life for the conversion of sinners and for the salvation of immortal souls;

c) to practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, especially in the family, in the surrounding area and to lay members;

d) to participate actively in the life of the parish in cooperation with the local priest;

e) to visit the elderly, the sick, solitary and poor people and to help them;

f) to support the apostolic work of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer.

Each member DR SDR promises:

a) to pray the morning and evening prayer daily;

b) to pray the Angelus as a summary of the mystery of salvation in the morning, noon and evening;

c) to pray daily the Rosary (at least one mystery) with the intention for the sick and dying, as well as for all members of the Spiritual Family;

d) to participate the Holy Mass frequently;

e) to speak brief prayers and to read the Bible.

Each member shall participate as possible in monthly Associate gatherings. Sister facilitator or the group leader convenes this meeting and leads it. Where possible, each member annually attends at least at three-day retreat.

On admission to the DR SDR baptismal vow is renewed.
